Bhoti Language Day Celebrated at EJM College, Leh

Leh, Ladakh — EJM Degree College, Leh, in collaboration with the Ladakh Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and the LBA Language Committee, successfully organized Bhoti Language Day at the college’s New Conference Hall.

The event aimed to promote and preserve the rich heritage of the Bhoti language and to raise awareness among students and the wider community about its cultural and academic importance.
The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr. Tsewang Dorjay, a noted scholar, writer, and retired Tehsildar. The Guest of Honour was Mr Tsewang Paljor , Deputy Secretary of the Cultural Academy, Leh.
The program commenced with a welcome address delivered by Dr. Tashi Dorjey, Assistant Professor, Department of Philosophy, who highlighted the significance of celebrating Bhoti Language Day and emphasized the need for collective efforts to preserve and promote the language.
Distinguished speakers, including Dr. Urgen Dadul and Gen. Tsering Chospel, delivered insightful lectures on the historical evolution, contemporary relevance, and future prospects of the Bhoti language. Their addresses underscored the importance of integrating Bhoti into educational and administrative frameworks.
The program also featured poetry recitations by Dr. Konchok Gyatso, CIBS, choglamsar, Mr. Jigmat Dorjay and Mr. Tsering Dorjay and Mr. Gulzar Hussien as well as cultural presentations adding vibrancy to the celebration and showcasing the literary richness of the Bhoti language.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Thubstan Norboo expressing gratitude to all guests, speakers, organizers, and participants for making the program a meaningful and successful initiative.
